Green’s album Imaginary War is not your typical “singer-songwriter” record. Many of the songs came together like pieces in a puzzle, often beginning with an instrumental and nailing down a lyrical concept to fit his technicolor-soaked soundscape of psychedelic pop, jazz, ‘70s R&B influences and more. Green’s deep love for cinema and visual storytelling was a major source of inspiration for his debut album, with Alain Resnais' '60s French New Wave film Last Year at Marienbad playing on a constant loop in the studio.

Throughout the years, Green has built a cross-genre community and name for himself in Nashville, working behind the board as a sought-after collaborator with artists such as Elvis Costello, Margo Price, Nicole Atkins, Aaron Lee Tasjan and Shemekia Copeland, which resulted in a GRAMMY nomination for his work mixing and engineering her 2022 album Done Come Too Far. Additionally, he has enjoyed a long-time partnership with The Grahams’ 3Sirens Music Group as their go-to producer.

Following the loss of his mother in 2022, Green felt a renewed sense of urgency to step into his own as an artist. "My mom worked to afford me every opportunity to pursue music," he explains. "When she passed away, there was a shift in my whole approach to my time here. In a lot of ways, this album is for her.” Altogether, Imaginary War is an inviting album that’s built for mileage, whether the trip you’re taking is a cross-country drive or something a bit more introspective.
