Shovelin Stone is a band almost as unique as the friendships it stems from. A shared passion for old-timey bluegrass is what brought Makenzie Willox and Zak Thrall together, but it's the unknowing joy for the moment and the obsession with the complications that life brings that continues to push the duo forward. Within heartfelt lyrics and unique musical composition, the indie folk sound that projects from these two is not only going to get the audience thinking but on their feet. With roots embedded in the Colorado Rocky Mountains and a sound unhinged in the capital of Texas, the four band, with multi-talented bassist, cellist and mandolin player Russick Smith, and rock drummer Brett Throgmorton, have created a sound as diverse as they are in their sophomore album Summer Honey. About the album Summer Honey was recorded deep in the Appalachian Mountains with Grammy-winning producer Chance McCoy (Old Crow Medicine Show). Recording in such a remote beautiful area with no phone reception and limited contact to the outside world, the band was able to focus on the art and the growing bond between members. With songs about longing, love, and the hunger to be heard in this big world, it is hard not to relate to these four on their quest for success. Having just completed their first European tour the future looks even brighter. ‌ ‌ About the European tour 2023 With headlining acts across the Unites States including an appearance at FloydFest in Floyd, Virginia, as well as a triumphant return for another full European tour in April/May of 2023 the sky is the limit for Summer Honey. https://www.facebook.com/shovelinstone/
