NEWS - RADICANTS are Ballaké Sissoko & Lorenzo Bianchi Hoesch

The encounter between an ancient and ancestral instrument like the Kora in the hands of a virtuoso like Ballaké Sissoko, and a consonant yet complex electronic element, expanding the possibilities of the instrument itself, as proposed by Lorenzo Bianchi Hoesch, fits within this Poetics of Relation. It is a search for new paths related to immersion, surrender, and the hypothesis of new roots, rather than their denial or blind and falsely respectful defense.
Today, these new roots are to be invented: dynamic, evolving roots capable of supporting each other.
Ballaké Sissoko’s curiosity and openness allow for the construction of a true exchange territory in which the electronic aspect welcomes the Kora’s sounds.

Thus, there is no opposition between two worlds—acoustic and electronic, traditional and contemporary, African and Western—but rather acceptance, collaboration, and risk-taking. Lorenzo Bianchi Hoesch has long been developing an original language of improvisation with the computer, creating his own software tools and using various interfaces.
The aim is to build a true dialogue between the two musicians, in which, if the Kora is the source of everything, the electronic aspect is the development, the resonance, and the form.
Interplay is therefore a keyword for this project, and the research method itself is the core of the creative process. One last fundamental aspect is sound immersion. Musicians and audience share the same acoustic space and are immersed in a spatialized sound universe, a metaphor for rooting in a new world.
