"Deciphering Torment Through Malediction," the debut album by Black Sorcery, is a raw embodiment of classic black metal. Emerging in early 2020 from Rhode Island and featuring members from past bands like Bog of the Infidel and Sangus, Black Sorcery delivers a fiercely traditional take on the genre. Their sound, a fusion of cold melodies and aggressive rhythms, harks back to the early days of black metal. The album's themes are deeply rooted in torment, curses, and existential disdain, symbolizing self-destruction and the cycle of esoteric failure. This 40-minute work aims to keep black metal orkish and medieval, both musically and lyrically. Fans of Behexen and Gorgoroth will find a resonant aesthetic. Recorded at Distorted Forest Studios and mastered at Enormous Door Mastering, this release is a testament to the band's commitment to the raw, uncompromising spirit of black metal. A follow-up EP, "Plummeting Into the Hour of the Wolf," is planned for digital and limited cassette release in Spring 2024 on Eternal Death Records.
